Permaculture Design is a system of landscape planning that can be functional at scales from the home garden to local community or small town, or from a small farm to a large farming operation. Essentially, Permaculture is an ethically based whole-systems design approach that uses concepts, principles, and methods derived from local ecosystems, indigenous peoples, and other holistic practices to create sustainable human settlements and organizations. Permaculture design is interdisciplinary, touching on a wide range of subjects including regional planning, architecture, ecology, nature, animal cultivation, applying suitable technology, and community development.
